Gynecology Services

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends that the first visit to the Gynecologist take place between 13-15 years of age.  The scope of this visit is to primarily educate on age –appropriate health topics.  A pelvic exam is not necessary unless the patient is sexually active and at risk for sexually transmitted diseases or has a specific complaint.

The first pap smear (sampling of cervical cells) to screen for cervical cancer and infections should occur at age 21.
